The County Government of Kilifi’s Directorate of Vocational Training has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) to strengthen the county’s Vocational Training Centers (VTCs). The agreement, signed by Kilifi Deputy Governor Hon. Flora Mbetsa Chibule and TUM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Laila Abubakar, aims to formalize collaboration between the two institutions.
Under the MOU, Kilifi County will take on key responsibilities, including identifying and facilitating instructors for training programs, engaging local communities, and collaborating with TUM on infrastructure development and procurement of tools and equipment. The county will also encourage VTC graduates to continue their studies at TUM, creating a clear pathway for further education.
The signing ceremony, held at the county headquarters, was attended by the CECM Education and ICT Hon. Felkin Kaingu Ndena, Chief Officer Mr. Fredrick Nguma, and County Solicitor Mr. Faraji Chipinde. This partnership is expected to boost vocational training and contribute to the socio-economic development of Kilifi County
