Hon. Felkin Kaingu Ndena, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education and ICT, and Madam Eddystella Wanja, Director for Vocational Training, recently visited SHOFCO, a community-based organization, at their Kiwandani offices. SHOFCO has established a free community library to promote literacy and provide educational resources to all residents, ensuring equitable access to knowledge.

SHOFCO is also training over 60 women and young mothers in dressmaking, soap making, and bleach making. These vocational programs empower women by providing skills to generate income and improve their livelihoods. This initiative aligns with the Department of Education and ICT’s mission to promote self-sufficiency and economic empowerment through education and skills training.

Additionally, SHOFCO has built a community hall available for free upon early booking, offering a valuable space for social and educational events. Hon. Ndena praised SHOFCO’s efforts, stating that their initiatives resonate with the department’s goals of fostering education, skills development, and community empowerment.

Madam Wanja commended SHOFCO’s impactful work, particularly in transforming the lives of women and young mothers, enabling them to contribute to the community’s economic growth. The visit highlights the department’s commitment to supporting community organizations that drive education and empowerment in Kiwandani.
