In a major step toward achieving the educational goals outlined in his manifesto, H.E. Gideon Maitha Mung’aro, Governor of Kilifi County, has launched the Kilifi County Education Fund. This fund aims to provide bursaries to deserving but underprivileged children, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent bright students from pursuing their education.
Under the leadership of Hon. Felkin K. Dena, CECM for Education and ICT, the Department of Education has already awarded full scholarships to 1,900 students who will be joining national schools. Governor Mung’aro emphasized his commitment to removing educational barriers, stating that no bright student should miss out on education due to lack of funds. He also announced that the county government will support these students financially through university after their Form Four studies.
The event was supported by key figures including the Chief Officer for Education, who chairs the scholarship program, along with 35 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and other distinguished guests.
The Kilifi County Education Fund highlights the local government’s dedication to expanding educational opportunities and empowering youth for a brighter future.
