The Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training Program (KBEST), a project led by CICan in Kenya, recently conducted institutional visits to two vocational training centers within the county. The first visit occurred at Mapimo Vocational Training Centre on Tuesday, followed by a subsequent visit to Muyeye Vocational Training Centre on Wednesday. These visits aimed to perform a thorough needs analysis of the program, define deliverables across both institutions as outlined in the Terms of Reference (TOR), and develop a comprehensive work plan.
Mr. Frederick Nguma, the Chief Officer for Education and Vocational Training, actively participated in both events, emphasizing the importance of the discussions. Moreover, the Director for Vocational Training, Madam Eddystella Wanja, attended the meetings, further underlining the significance of collaboration. Deliberations primarily focused on identifying areas where the KBEST program could provide support and assistance to augment the quality of vocational training offered by these institutions.
The proactive engagement between the Canadian KBEST team and the vocational training centers underscores a commitment to bolstering educational opportunities and fostering international collaboration in vocational training excellence. As discussions progress, it is expected that tangible plans for collaboration will materialize, ultimately benefiting students and educators in their pursuit of skill development and career advancement.
